Dr. Rifenburgh has 7 years of experience as a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, orthopedic, and sports injuries. She earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the Pennsylvania State University in 2006 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University in 2009.
She began her career as a traveling PT, which allowed her to garner experience in a multitude of disciplines in the states of California, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. For the last 6 years, she worked as the evening manager at PRO Sports Physical Therapy in Westchester, NY, where she gained experience as a direct access practitioner in a multitude of injuries, dysfunction, and post surgical conditions, utilizing comprehensive techniques to rehabilitate athletes of all ages from the recreational to the professional. While there, Dr. Rifenburgh was also a clinical instructor, mentoring PT students from area colleges and participated in journal clubs, research papers, and data collection with the Nicholas Institute of Athletic Trauma and Sports Medicine (NISMAT) at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Rifenburgh has had extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy, primarily through courses offered by the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). She has successfully completed level I and II coursework and exams and is eligible to sit for the board examination to receive her Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) certification in December 2016. She has also taken coursework in the Maitland approach and is certified in the Graston Technique.
Dr. Rifenburgh joins Dr. Long and the Bergen Physical Therapy and Spinal Rehab family to provide patients with a multi-modal approach to their pain. Dr. Rifenburgh believes in a hands-on, one-on-one approach to patient care. With the combination of her advanced manual therapy skills and her knowledge of therapeutic exercises, her goal is to return each patient to their pain-free function as well as sports and recreational activities.
